B&W Fifth-Wheel Hitch Options Explained
(Use this directly under the product description or in the product info tab.)
B&W offers three primary mounting styles for fifth-wheel towing, each designed for a specific type of truck bed and towing setup. All three options deliver the strength, build quality, and reliability B&W is known for — the same hitches our Pete’s RV team installs and tows with ourselves.
1. B&W Companion (Under-Bed Puck System)
For trucks equipped with factory pucks (Ford, GM, and Ram), the Companion drops directly into the OEM mounting points for a clean, removable setup.
Offers a quiet, smooth ride
Removes from the bed easily when you’re not towing
Available in multiple capacities, including the heavy-duty 25K Ram-only version
Sliding model available for standard 6.5' beds
If your truck came with the puck system, the Companion is the premium, no-compromise choice.
2. B&W Patriot (ISR Rail System)
The Patriot mounts to industry-standard rails (ISR), making it perfect for trucks without OEM pucks or for those replacing an older rail-mounted hitch.
Outstanding build quality and performance
Budget-friendly compared to the Companion
Available up to 18K capacity
Optional slider available for standard 6.5’ length beds
The Patriot delivers B&W quality for customers using traditional ISR rails.
3. B&W Companion (Gooseneck / Turnoverball Mount)
Built to pair with B&W’s legendary Turnoverball gooseneck hitch, this setup uses a single center mounting point under the bed — no rails, no clutter.
Frees up the bed when not towing
Uses the same opening as the Turnoverball system
Extremely strong, simple, and reliable
Slider version available
We are proud installers of the B&W Turnoverball system — the gold standard for gooseneck and fifth-wheel versatility.
4. Sliding Hitch Options
For standard 6.5' truck beds, a sliding fifth-wheel hitch provides the additional cab clearance needed in tight turns.
Available in both Companion and Patriot versions
Smooth fore-aft travel
Essential for many non-long-bed setups
Which One Is Right for You?
Choosing the correct hitch depends on:
Your truck’s bed length
Whether you have factory pucks
Whether you have (or want) a Turnoverball gooseneck system
Trailer pin weight and GVWR
How often and where you tow
Our team is happy to walk you through the options — or you can simply select the hitch style that matches your truck’s setup and add it to your cart.
